Return of the Human Tiedowns

Human Tiedown #1

Human Tiedown #3

What we have in the first image is the result of several motivated Sailors tasked with moving a couple of heavy picnic tables. They loaded the second table on top of the first. They realized that the unsecured table could easily slide off the truck during turns. So the solution was… rope? Bungee cord?

Nah, it was a couple more Sailors to hold the tables down. That’s expedient. Dumb, but expedient. Because with enough speed and enough lift on that top table, it is easy to imagine the Sailor sailing off right along with it.

Regarding image number three, “This car pulled up next to me at a light at one of the busiest intersections in Jacksonville,” a correspondent wrote. “That lane turns directly into a lane that only goes onto I-295. Sure enough, they went right onto the expressway with this woman in the trunk holding the trunk lid down so that the office chair would not fall out.”

You hear lots of warnings about STDs. Here’s one about HTDs (Human Tie-Downs). Don’t be one.
