Snakes in Panel #1

As a non-electrician, I’d think that the usual hazard of electrical shock would be enough for one job. But no, the ante sometimes gets upped. Here’s another way to get your hair to stand on end, guaranteed to make you pay close attention when you open those panels.

Hmm, how to mitigate this hazard? A contributor from California sent in an example of a warning sign from another snake-prone site. “Seems that this flare stack is warm, and the local snakes like to crawl in there to sleep,” he writes. “The employer did a good job of recognizing the hazard and warning workers about it.” He added, “OK, I’ve been warned—now what?”
