When the crew arrived to put on the new roof, they carefully set up a safety barrier five feet or so from the roof edge. The workers all wore safety rigs, hard hats and steel-toed shoes. Yet this was their temporary office.

Our correspondent took this photo in Florida, where it sometimes gets windy. The ability of this temporary foundation to withstand much lateral pressure is questionable, at best. He checked to see if they were thinking about reinforcing or tying down this trailer. They weren’t.

On to the roof!
