Aren’t ATVs great? They whisk you away from traffic and congestion and lousy drivers and cops and traffic lights. They get you out to where it’s just you, and noise, and dirt, and mother nature.

Of course, there are down sides to the experience. As we have often noted in the Summary of Mishaps, “ATV” sometimes stands for “Anyone Tossed-off Violently,” which is what happens when you skip the recon and run into an unexpected ditch or cliff or stump.

And then there are the native animals and plants. You don’t usually have to worry about the fauna, but the flora is another matter. It doesn’t run away.

PS – There is definitely a time to wear long sleeves and long pants, don’t you think?
