Warnings are great, but never forget the good old law of unintended consequences. In this case, the triggering of curiosity.

I know that if my brother and I, at about this age, had seen this exact sign, we would have instantly forgotten why we were crossing the bridge and would have immediately launched a snake hunt, which may or may not have extended to the actual creek or ditch.

So perhaps this sign should have an addendum beneath that says, “Don’t look for it. If you see it, leave it alone.”
